Dr. Fernandez began practicing medicine more than 20 years ago, ever since completing his post-graduate residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital through the Temple University School of Medicine in 1995. He earned his board certification in internal medicine that same year, followed by a primary care fellowship at The George Washington University Department of Health Care Sciences in 1996.
As his career progressed, he saw that most physicians would diagnose a disease and then recommend a medication. That narrow approach wasn’t working. Patients told him they were still feeling unwell, lacking energy and experiencing pain. Several years ago he knew that he had to try something else to provide better care. That is when he began his advanced training in holistic medicine.
He realized physicians should look at the entire person, such as how the various body systems are working together with external factors, such as exercise, nutrition and stress level. Now he takes his decades of experience in conventional medicine and adds the benefit of treatments that are proven by science but not as frequently used. His patients are both healthy and happy.
