10 Signs that You Need to Lose Weight – Part 1

It can be easy to neglect our physical health in the modern world. Between taking the kids to soccer practice and band practice, running errands, and getting work done at your job, it can be really tough to remember to take care of yourself. But there will be times that you begin to question whether you should consider losing weight. In the first part of our two-part blog series, we will consider five of the ten common signs that should show you that you need to get serious about losing weight by joining a weight loss and wellness program.

Losing Weight
In the first part of our two-part series, check out the first five signs that you should lose weight.

1. The Gut Feeling

Many times, the voices in our heads just tell us that we need to lose weight. If you find yourself saying things to yourself such as “My clothes don’t seem to fit as well as they used to” or “I’ve been eating out too much lately”, you should listen to those voices. Ignoring them will take a serious toll on your mental and physical health.

2. Your Doctor Tells You

If your primary care physician says that you need to lose weight, this is another serious sign that you need to heed. They will be able to take a look at your vital signs and determine if your blood pressure or cholesterol levels are too high. Losing weight helps you avoid the risks of serious illness associated with this.

3. Snoring

If your partner all of a sudden starts complaining that you’re snoring in bed, that may be another sign that you should lose weight. Loud snoring combined with gasping sounds is a sign of sleep apnea which is commonly caused by excess weight.

4. Your Weight Consistently Goes Up

Take a look at your weight totals year to year. If you find that your weight is consistently trending upward, you should strive to put an end to it. While a couple of pounds a year doesn’t seem like much, over time it can add up to become a serious problem.

5. Your Joints Ache

Excess weight puts pressure on your joints and can lead to complications down the line. Take charge of the situation and lose those extra pounds to increase your mobility as you get older!
